Top 10 Favorite Beach Reads
I was asked to write about my top 10 favorite gemstones, but I have to be honest with you all – even though The Secret Diamond Sisters series is about a family with the last name Diamonds, I actually don’t know much about gemstones!
Instead, I thought I would tell you all about my top 10 favorite beach reads. The Secret Diamond Sisters series is PERFECT lighter read that’s fantastic to bring to the beach or the pool, so I thought I would list some other books that helped inspired The Secret Diamond Sisters, or that are also great pool reads!
1) Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
Most people know about Gossip Girl from the TV show, but the book series is fun, too!
2) Airhead by Meg Cabot
I don’t see this series talked about a lot, but it’s SO MUCH FUN! It’s about a normal girl who accidentally gets her brain switched with a supermodel. Even though it has that sci-fi twist to it, it reads like a light contemporary, and I highly recommend it!
3) Sarah Dessen books
Any book by Sarah Dessen is fantastic for the pool or beach! My favorite book of hers is called Just Listen. It’s also the first book that I read of hers!
4) Confessions of the Sullivan Sisters by Natalie Standiford
If you love books about three sisters, I definitely recommend this one!
5) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
I have to admit—I was initially turned off from buying this series because the title sounded more middle grade. But there was so much buzz about it online, that I eventually bought the first book. I read it in a few hours—it was amazing! Then I bought the rest of the series and finished it in days.
6) Where I Belong by Gwendolyn Heasley
This book is about a big city rich girl who has to move to the middle of nowhere in Texas after her father loses their money! So … it’s like Diamond Sisters, but reversed. I absolutely loved it, and think you will, too!
7) The Ivy by Lauren Kunze and Rina Onur
This series is about a normal girl who attends Harvard, and gets selected to be a member of an elite club (called a Finals Club) while there. It’s sort of like The Secret Diamond Sisters, since the main girl is way out of her element. It’s a fun look at the world of Ivy League finals clubs, and I loved reading it!
8) The Avery Sisters Trilogy by Rachel Vail
This is another trilogy about three sisters! The first book in the trilogy is called Lucky. If you love sister books, then I definitely recommend this one!
9) Capital Girls by Ella Monroe
This is like Gossip Girl, but set in DC! I loved this series and tore through it in days. It has a mystery aspect about it, which I loved. I definitely recommend it!
10) The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
Well, I recommend ANY book of Jennifer E. Smith’s, but this is my favorite one!

The series was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. Michelle's latest YA series, The Secret Diamond Sisters, about three sisters who discover they are the secret heirs to a Las Vegas billionaire casino owner, was published in March 2014 by Harlequin Teen. The second book in the series, Diamonds in the Rough, released in November 2014, and the third book, Diamonds are Forever, will be coming out in November 2015. Michelle is active on social media networks and has toured across America to promote her books and encourage high school students to embrace reading and writing.
