Cover Reveal: Sanctuary by Zainab T. Khan

Sanctuary
Release Date: December 2015

Sanctuary
(n.) the protection that is provided by a safe place.

"And Sanctuary was the right word to describe our small town with its mouth-watering Pakistani fruits, Spain's bullfighting, Italian pizzas, French artists, Indian spices, Korean kimchi, and Turkish delights. Because to every single one of us – a Pakistani, Spanish, Indian, Korean, French, Italian, and Turkish - it was a sanctuary. Our own safe haven. Our home with its different cultural styles yet with a culture of its own."

I'm Zainab, a 16-year old faux writer. You can say that I'm more of a reader than a writer. Meg Cabot would be my favorite young adult author. The forty rules of love by Elif Shafak and Making faces by Amy Harmon would be my all-time favorite books. Favorite fictional boyfriends would be Jesse de Silva, Maxon Schreave, Adrian Ivashkov and Flynn Ryder. Update (14/07/15): David 'Tag' Taggert replaces all the four guys. Okay, not replaces but he is definitely my dream guy. Now back to real life, I'm a student in high school and English and Culinary Arts are my favorite courses. It was due to Once Upon a Time the TV show that I stumbled upon the art and the magic of writing. Somehow, among all this, I ended up a publishing a book. I'm working on a new book currently, hoping to publish it by Fall 2015. I would like to mention here that English is not my first language, so I request all my readers to excuse me whatever mistakes and errors I make in my writing, though I try to give you the very best version.

When I was a child, my Christmas traditions were pretty simple. I would get up and open my presents. Then, I would have Christmas dinner (always turkey, green beans, dressing, cranberry sauce shaped like a can, and the most amazing homemade rolls you could ever taste) with my mom’s side of the family.
After dinner, my dad’s parents would come get me. I would go over to their house and repeat. Presents, dinner, and spending the night with my cousin giggling under the covers as we did our best to stay awake as long as possible.
As I grew older, our families were separated by distance, so those traditions gradually faded away.
As an adult, I have made my own traditions with my husband and my son. Whether we celebrate at home in Florida or with family in Indiana, we have some things that are always the same.
Our Elf on the Shelf, Elfie, does his best to win Cutest Elf of the Year.

Elf on the Shelf

We wear matching pajamas.

Family

And we make amazing memories with our family. Because no matter how traditions change, all that really matters is the time we spend with those we care about. A night spent playing board games or a drive to look at Christmas lights can create memories that last forever.
Although, I do have one tradition that always stays the same. I still have to have my cranberry sauce shaped like a can.

Tracy-Tam-Cover
Tracy doesn’t believe that Santa can deliver all of those presents in one night with out a little help from science. A flying sleigh can only be powered by jet engines, and Santa’s magical abilities can only be the result of altered DNA. In order to test her theories, she sneaks onto Santa’s sleigh and ends up at Santa Command, the place where a team of humans monitors Santa’s big night. When Tracy attempts to hack into their computers, she accidentally introduces a virus to their system. As a result, three states get knocked out of sync with the rest of the world. Before the night is over, Tracy has to fix time and help Santa finish his deliveries. And she has to do it all with Santa’s magic, which she doesn’t believe exists.

Genre: Erotic Romance
Cover Design: Book Cover By Design
 Release Date: November 23, 2015

Blurb

My name is Nathan Stone, and I’m part owner of a BDSM club called The Onyx Room – and I’m not like any other man you’ve ever met.

I own the club with my two best friends, Matthew and Brandon. I’m the dungeon Master who runs The Onyx Room. Matthew and Brandon support me.

I’m also in love with my girl. Bianca and I have been together since the night she got in my car to sell me her body. She thought I’d take her for an hour to sate my carnal desire, but what she didn’t know was that I’d seen her before and purposely bought her to save her from herself.

Bianca needed more than a Dominant. She needed a Master. My name is Master Nathan Stone, and welcome to my world.

*Possible triggers, coarse language, graphic sex and adult themes.

Excerpt

Bianca requires aftercare as much as she needs the sting of the pain. I clean her wounds, and apply a liberal amount of Neosporin ointment and let the wounds breathe. I then cover her up with the thin blanket and sit on the bed beside her. “Slave.” Her eyes flicker open. “Here you go.” I unscrew the water bottle and hold it to her lips. She automatically reaches out so she can take the bottle, but I lightly smack her hand away. “I’ll take care of you.” Bianca smiles, then puts her lips to the bottle as I tip it so she can drink.

“Thank you, Master,” she dreamily says before placing her head on the pillow and falling into sleep.

Walking away from the bed and to the opposite side of the playroom, I take my phone out of my pocket and call Matthew.

“Hey,” he says when he answers.

“Hey, I’m supposed to do an inventory check today but Bianca is starting to fall. We’ve just had a mini scene, but she’s out of it. Can you go in and start it, and I’ll be there in a few hours. I need to make sure she’s okay.”

“She alright?”

“Not great, but I’m hoping this time I can get to her before her mind fucks her over.”

“Dude, whatever you need.”

“Thanks, can you go in and start inventory?”

“Yeah, I’m taking Ella to see Debra her OBGYN, check the baby and make sure everything’s alright, then we can head in and start on it.”

“Thanks, we’ll be there before the club opens, but I just can’t get there for a couple of hours.”

“Yeah, man, don’t worry yourself. I’ve got it covered, look after your girl.”

~ Excerpt ~

When Seth insisted on taking their gear to a guest bedroom, Natti slowly paced the house, trying to get a feel for her new surroundings. It made her think back to when she first arrived in Setemple and how the little grey house she left behind didn’t feel like home. All she wanted was her little brick townhouse back in London. The cabin, however, was just plain unwelcoming. Despite the beautiful colored walls, the antique furniture, the honey-oak cabinets, and stainless steel appliances, something didn’t feel right about it. Like she was stepping on someone’s grave. Not that Mandy was dead, though from what Natti understood from Seth about “Thought Reform,” she might as well be. It just felt . . . wrong. On so many levels. And the more she explored, the worse the feeling grew. Her stomach twisted, and a chill took hold of Natti’s soul, very similar to the chill Sean’s magic had left behind for days after he kidnapped her.
Not really watching where she was going, she turned into a room that was a mix of pure white and mauve. Her attention was first drawn to the bed and cherry-stained headboard perpendicular to the threshold she stood in. The pillow shams were a soft, pastel pink, and a single plush toy—a black cat with a scarab necklace and earrings—sat on a mauve bed spread.
Natti walked up to the bed and picked up the plush cat, recognizing it as the goddess Bastet. The same goddess her grandmother had named Natti’s cat after. She missed the little Egyptian Mau. She also missed her Anubis, the plush toy Seth had won and given to her at the Pharaoh’s Festival. She had no doubt Seth had won this Bastet for Mandy from the same vendor, maybe not too long ago. Yet she couldn’t feel any disgust toward the toy. In fact, it was the one thing she found comforting in the entire house.
Keeping the cat close to her breast, she walked to a corkboard where Mandy had pinned up several old beauty pageant announcements and high school newsletter clippings. The most recent being a black and white cut out featuring Ky, Seth’s best friend, decked out in his football uniform. He was obviously getting down with the Setemple High Cheer Squad in what looked like some sort of victory dance. The caption under the photograph stated, “Touch Down!”
School spirit must have really been her thing.
Slowly, Natti took one more turn about the room. Other than a few trophies and trinkets placed on a few barren shelves, it was much like the rest of the cabin. The only difference was all the scattered golden-framed pictures. Most were professional photographs of Mandy. A few were with her friends or Seth’s. But the one that particularly caught Natti’s eye was a selfie placed on the dresser. She raised it, studying Mandy’s serene face and feathered-out, curly blond hair. The image was in a funky, diagonal perspective that gave little detail of the setting, and a gleaming light took up the little background that was visible. Yet the subject focus was crystal clear. Mandy was laying on her stomach with Seth’s bare chest hovering over her nude body. His lips captured in the middle of tracing kisses along her shoulder blade.
A sour mixture of jealousy and sorrow percolated in Natti’s stomach. And here Seth was acting as if Mandy meant nothing. She couldn’t sense any lie to his words then, but the suggestive form of her lips and her trusting expression confirmed Mandy felt a bond between them. Something that wasn’t created through his magic or Connection. Bile rose into Natti’s throat, and her gut twisted into knots. How could Seth not realize what he truly was to her? How could he think their years together, magic or no, wouldn’t affect her emotions?
“Guess the tour is out,” Seth remarked, making Natti nearly drop the frame.

THE DUKE'S TEMPTATION
Men of Circumstance #1
Addie Jo Ryleigh
Released Oct 14th, 2015
Soul Mate Publishing

A Duke. A Runner. An Earl.
Three men, each born into different circumstances.
Each fighting to overcome their own adversity.
All striving to change their past.

Gabriel St. James, Duke of Wesbrook, desires any birthright other than being the son of a hideous man. Unfortunately, Gabe knows the exact moment he became like his father—a night that has haunted him for seven years. Resigned to his future, he is unprepared when his illegitimate—and more importantly unbeknown—young daughter appears on his London doorstep. With no one to care for her but him.

Lady Elizabeth Blakely has loved only one man—her brother’s longtime friend, Gabe St. James. Not even his rakish and, oftentimes, wicked behavior dissuades her. Yet it all seems hopeless as he continues to overlook the woman she has become.

When Elizabeth learns Gabe is in need of assistance with his daughter, she seizes the opportunity. Gabe, less than thrilled with the situation—mostly due to his fierce desire for his best friend’s sister—has no option but to concede. Besides, a more sinister threat lurks; someone is blackmailing Gabe with his darkest secret. Through it all, Gabe vows to resist Elizabeth, no matter how tempting.

Sometimes it's better to surrender . . .

He’d already been subjected to a sleepless night battling the possibility she could be carrying his babe. Part of him leapt with joy thinking of her slender frame, rounded from increasing.
Mostly, he felt worry. And fear, that his future son would, despite Gabe’s best efforts, grow to be like him and all the previous Wesbrook scoundrels.
Afraid or not, if it came to pass, he would do the right thing and marry her. In no way would he leave her vulnerable to the vicious ton. Besides, if things were different—if he were different—he would whisk her to Gretna Green right now and attach her to him for the rest of their lives.
Instead, he would love her the only way he was capable of—from afar. And someday hope he found the strength to break from the person his past had made him.
If only he knew how to inform Elizabeth they could no longer be together intimately. She would fight him on it. Of that he was damned sure.
Thinking of how her face brightened, and her eyes flashed with light when she became so determined, sent shivers of enjoyment through him.
Absorbed with all the wicked ways he’d like to turn the light in Elizabeth’s eyes to burning embers, he didn’t notice the door opening until it clicked shut.
When he realized who’d entered, uncharacteristic heat rose in his cheeks. His only excuse for the boyish flush was that being caught in the middle of erotic thoughts by his three-year-old daughter wasn’t an everyday occurrence. Thank God.
A bit unclear as to how to interact with the half-sized person before him, Gabe chose to remain silent and let her make the first move. It might not be very manly, but it was by far the wisest decision he knew of.
He remained seated as her blue eyes scanned the room before she finally spotted him sitting at the desk. It was so bloody adorable the way she set her tiny chin in a determined angle and headed straight toward him—a small doll clasped in each arm—that he almost circled his desk to greet her.

Grant crossed his arms. “Really? Because I asked around too, and several of our lovely contestants said the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ was that she refused to put on any dress chosen for her. You realize why she wore a FSU shirt, don’t you, Richie. I hate that team. And as for ratings, I don’t give a rat’s—”
“Please, lower your voice. This isn’t as bad as it seems.”
“What did you say to her to make her stay? Don’t give me anymore BS about loopholes in contracts, either.”
Richie pressed his fingertips together thoughtfully. “You say this woman was the love of your life, yet you don’t even realize what she’s doing. I find that difficult to believe.”
“You said she was the love of my life. I told you to let her go.”
“Not going to happen, Grant. Besides, I thought you’d be happy about this turn of events. About what it means for you.”
Grant scowled. “Are you incapable of being direct?”
“Isn’t it obvious, Grant? She’s making what I would call a tremendous effort for you to vote her off. Which means she still has feelings for you.”
“You have a warped sense of reasoning.” She might have feelings for him, but they sure as hell weren’t romantic in any way. What, she was trying to woo him with a sweatshirt that smelled like hot dumpster trash? Richie was crazy.
“She can’t stand to be around you because of all the feelings your presence dredges up. Is that so hard to understand?”
Grant blinked. It actually wasn’t; he could relate. He wished he could turn off the memories her presence provoked in him. “You can’t let her run wild on the set, Richie. She’s making a joke out of your show. Don’t you care about that?”
Richie laughed. “She’s doing exactly what I’d hoped she’d do. The question is, are you going to let her beat you at this game?”
Grant took the seat behind him and leaned on Richie’s desk with his forearms. Of course, she was trying to get voted off the show. She hated his guts, and had an entire decade to let this medley of hatred and anger simmer. This was her loophole. Her way of getting out of the contract.  “You don’t know Chelle. She won’t give up. These tantrums will only get worse.”
“Look,” Richie said with a sympathetic sigh that barely hid his delight. “There’s a fine line between love and hate. Haven’t you ever heard that? She obviously has strong feelings toward you. It’s up to you to change the nature of those feelings.”
Grant wiped a hand down his face. Changing Rochelle’s mind about anything had always been a challenge. But changing her heart? Was that even possible?
“You handled yourself quite well last night,” Richie continued. “Very composed for the situation.”
“Am I just supposed to ignore her behavior? That’s not fair to the other women.”
Richie smirked. “Do you even remember the names of any of the other women?”
Touché.

About the Author:

I am an avid reader of chick lit, romance and fantasy, caffeine addict and a badge-wearing Mr. Darcy / Colin Firth fan.

I released my first book at the age of six. It had a half-dozen postcard-size pages stitched together and bound in velvet paper. The book was titled “Eliza and Robert” and featured highly creative spelling. Some words were written in mirror image. Unintentionally.

Decades later, I still love the name Robert and the genre romance. My spelling has improved (somewhat), and my books have made Amazon Top 100 lists. I live and work in Paris, France. When not writing, I read and spend time with my family. You can contact me via Facebook or email
