A home is where love resides.

It's a feeling, more than just a physical place.

It's an environment that offers security, truth and happiness. It's the heart of a family.

Sam Evans and Ashley Brookes both know what it's like to lose their homes... their families.

When a stranger from Sam's past makes an unwelcome and unexpected appearance shattering everything he's always believed about his life, the emotionally inept doctor can't deal with the knowledge.

Left confused and brokenhearted, Ashley struggles to cope, and ends up leaning on an old crush for support. When Sam finally gets his act together, he knows he has a lot of fixing and apologizing to do. Aware he's going to lose Ashley, the only woman he's ever loved is not something he’s willing to let happen.

The only way he can get her back is to man-up and show Ashley exactly what she means to him.

To show her that the only home for his heart is with her.

Author Bio

Velvet Reed is the pen name of an avid book lover turned writer.

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia; she is a city girl at heart but loves the laid back lifestyle of living in country New South Wales. Married to her first and only love, she is a devoted mother of three who juggles her very active children and their many extracurricular activities, working in the middle of the night and writing.

Velvet's love of reading was realized after the death of her amazing father. She used the escape into the fictional world to help her through her grief and post-natal depression, not releasing the great impact so many talented authors would have on her life.

Petyr has never found it necessary to consider the humans as anything more than distant, inferior beings–until now. As a future leader of a realm in peril, Petyr must find a way to resist and cure the affliction. He must enter the unfamiliar realm, appear to be an ordinary eighteen year-old human, observe and learn.

However, things don't exactly go according to plan. Instead of embarking single-mindlendly on his sober mission, Petyr meets and 18 year old girl who does things to his emotions that he can't quite fathom or control.

Format: Ebook/Paperback

The past haunts you and the future terrifies you. What do you do, seek redemption, sink into madness, or eat? These stories follow the lives of women trying to find emotional peace through food, fantasy, or virtue. The urge for liberation from pain drives them to face conflicts arising from the desire for relief.

Eva has been carrying a terrible secret from the Second World War in Ukraine. As she approaches the end of her life, she wishes to eat herself into a diabetic coma to escape the guilt. Unfortunately, her daughter-in-law feels it is her Hippocratic duty to save Eva from gastronomic excess. While each comes at the other from complex, very different life experiences, peaceful intentions inevitably end in war.

Long ago, Sarah gave up living on the outside. Now in an attempt to insulate herself from painful events, she tries to dream an alternative reality into existence.

After Magnolia commits the ultimate sin and realizes there will be no happy ending, she must somehow find clarity and peace.

As a narrator of a sleepy American suburb comically recounts a squirrel’s demise, she soon discovers that the joke may be on her.

The Uncommon Cure shares a novella and three short stories that intertwine the struggles of several female characters as they attempt to cure their ills with unorthodox solutions.
